Having been established in 2007 as an asbestos removal company it wasn’t long before we started carrying out internal strip outs and demolition contracts. Our father and son team has over a combined 30 years’ experience within the industry.

From the very beginning Gowrie Contracts has worked for Dundee City Council for both demolition and asbestos removal needs, working on high-profile buildings such as the Caird Hall, as well as working on their housing stock. In addition to the council we have also worked for both Dundee and Abertay Universities.

The key to Gowrie Contracts' success is the relationship we have with all our partners. We're committed to providing a service that can be trusted and can be relied on when problems occur. We currently work with all the councils within the Courier territory, as well as many of the large construction companies in the area. However, we also work closely with the smaller local businesses and procure services, where possible, from local companies. 

To be successful in delivering our services and to continue our relationships with main contractors and local authorities we ensure that we provide:

• An emergency service (typically a 3-hour response time)
• A clear and simple procedure for dealing with emergencies
• A ‘right first time’ approach to asbestos removal
• Reliability in service
  

As one of the only licensed asbestos removal companies in the region, we try to go above and beyond when local residents contact us, giving them honest advice and guidance. We have a firm belief in working with both the residential and business community in promoting best practice within our profession and beyond.

We have recently started partnership working with Asbestos Action Tayside, a local charity that focuses on those affected by asbestos-related illnesses. This link into the community is important for our staff to understand the context of their work but for the community to understand that companies like Gowrie Contracts are working safely to remove the risk for future generations.

We will continue to sponsor and support local events within schools, colleges and the community and are currently working with the local college to offer free asbestos awareness training to construction apprentices and deliver talks on subjects, including women in construction.
